Why a Metro?
It's 1600# from the factory and very aerodynamic. AND it was only $400 off the dealers lot. I'd never built a car from scratch before, so if it sucked, I wasn't out too much. I parted out what I didn't need for $500.
Most Geo people say "it's not a Metro, just a Metro skin on a tube chassis" which is true. But nobody says "did you see that tube chassis car just run a 9?" They say, "Holy crap, did you see that Metro just run a 9 ?!!"
The world has enough 9 second full size cars. It needs more different stuff. I'm building a tow vehicle for it out of a 1958 Volvo panel wagon.
I dig the different stuff.

Race weight with me in it is 2400#. I'd guess it's making around 900hp. I'd give alot of credit of that to the Neil Chance 10.5" ~3200 stall convertor. Before that, I had a Coan 8" and the car just flat drove thru it. I went from 13% slip down to less than 6%.
I put a nitrous kit on it not for power really but for spool up so I could bracket race more.
One thing I'd like to do eventually is to make the switch to E85 or E100. I don't have a lot of timing in it, only 21º and I run 116 octane. The top end of the run the air temp right before the throttle body was 40º on a 90º day. (Liquid IC's are sooo nice.) I honestly think I could make 1000hp with it but I'm probably already pushing my luck with the car unless I could get the suspension really dialed in.

While I kept every receipt and made a bit of an owner's manual out of it, I've never added it all up but if I had to guess it's probably mid 20's.
I just looked and I don't think I have any that really show the tires width. They are 11.50 X 28" ET Drags though.

What kind of gas mileage does it get now? I really can't believe you would ruin an environmentally friendly, economical car like that with what's going on in the world today. That would have been a very good car to drive daily with today's tough economy before you hacked it up.

It's probably me if it is racing against some Camaros at the track.

To make up for the added carbon emissions the non-lockup torque convertor, I added naws injection to freshen up the exhaust. Also, I recently changed my daily driver car to a human feces powered vehicle. To deal with my high roughage diet, I did have to add a Magnaturdgrinder to the intake tract. Now it goes like stink.
