If it didn't do any other damage, yes. If that's what it is. I would also replace push rods. Cheap insurance. Have you been driving hard or stomping on it? Oh and for the record I've used GC 0-30w for the longest time. I ran RP at first but had too much oil consumption. With the GC I only have to add 1 qt between oil changes.

Man its hard to say. Mine was loud and it came from the driver valve side. I even listened to it with a stethscope without the bell to confirm it was a valve train issue. During revs or while driving it would get faster not louder.

Change oils. Check the plugs and wires. Try the simple stuff first. Although bad plugs or wires would through SES codes.

Ill probably switch oils tommrow and see what that does...would it hurt the car if I drove it and all it was was the oil making the lifters tick?

If its not a lifter issue no. Check the wires. Make sure they are all popped into the plug and the coil pack. If it's something in the valve train depends what it is. Keep us updated.

Not good advise if it a lifter taking a **** enless your wanting to spend some money. Your best getting that looked at before it gets worse over time. Sounds like a lifter to me

No doubt, but 9-10 this forum lives off scare tactics and you send people on wild goose chases.

Update drove it to the GM dealership to have it looked at and well guess what it stops making the ******* noise until i get back onto base. Why would the noise be getting quieter then louder? just a sign of the lifter going bad?

i have a tick on the drivers side but its not the lifter, its that damn EVAP canister. Check that first cause it sounds like lifter tick but its just a check valve for fuel vapors.

When mine was making a lot of noise due to the loose plug, it didn't throw a code until it fell out...

Yea, it's intermittent. Been doing it since nov 08. Car drives fine with great oil pressure so I dunno.
