No sir, getting it into 4th is a good thing. Same goes for the C6Z. People that are getting great trap speeds out of the C6Z are semi-short shifting 3rd and into 4th to carry them through the traps.

These are perfect conditions for these cars, since the number of ZR1s that actually get raced down the 1/4 are so low I still think they need more time to really make good numbers. Only recently (within the past few months) have I seen stock ZR1s getting some track time. Come October and November I think we will see 133-135 traps from owners with the benefit of good conditions and good driving.

Didn't C6Zs normally trap around 125 then Furman and Ranger hit 128-130 in perfect conditions when they got used to the car? I see no reason why this won't happen with the ZR1.

Not impressed what so ever. Over 100hp/tq more then a Z06 and it pulls the same times as the fastest stock Z06. Ill be impressed when its running at the most 10.5 or lower.

I've met the owner and seen that car in person. Tony Mamo and a 383 vette with AFR heads. Sounds even better in person . That's an old setup though, not sure if he's still running the same thing. You can have that one and I will take the zr1

i bet torque management on the zr1 is a 1/4 mile killer... the power is there. they dyno 100 horse more then a z06. But the z06 is just also an incredible machine with lightweight and a ls7... The guy also didnt really take advantage of those drag radials. he rolled out kind of easy. I bet a real aggressive launch he could have had a 10.6 10.7 which i dont care who you are or what tires you have on an otherwise factory stock car, thats fast. who cares about swapping tires. thats getting down to a petty argument. Like saying doing a burnout makes it not stock because the tires didnt come from the factory heated up. car is stock with drag radials. They dont change the amount of power. Tires are consumable items. If you put a different brand tire on that isnt a drag radial is that considered not stock too? Besides, he didnt even fully take advantage of them in this vid.

but anyway lets face it. the zr1 isnt out there to be racing on a 1/4 mile. that thing is a road race/touring monster.

On a side note, I know of a few TURBO HONDAS that will put the smack down on it. Considering that's only a $15K HONDA, that's impressive ! That's another whole thread right there.

Actually, there are a few mod'd N/A Eclipses that are trapping 130-131 too. Cars are getting really strong these days.
Fixed it for ya.

ahh, does no body no that the zr1 only put down like 505 to the rear tires. thats weak i think. an the z06 puts down 440 rw. thats only a 65 hp gain. something fishy going on with gm.

OK I am going to clear up a few things in this thread. The car in the videos is my fathers. I am the one driving the 11.05 run and Ranger drove the 10.98 runs. This is the first time to the track for this car. I am not an experienced drag racer. In the past 10 years I have driven a manual tranny car at the drag strip only a hand full of times. Ranger was taking it very easy with the launch and 1-2 shift since he was guest driving the car. If you noticed, I actually got a slightly better 60' time on the street tires (then blew the 1-2 shift) than Ranger got on the drag radials. The drag radials did not go on the car until the very end of the day and the car had +20 runs on it with little cool down time. Ranger took 3 passes on the DRs and I took 2 passes. The car is different to drive than the Z06 so we were taking the day to learn the best launch method and shift points. The opinion of Ranger is that the ZR1 is faster and that with a little more time in the car and more cool down a 10.6 or better on DRs should not be a problem and 10.8 or better on street tires with a mph in the 133-134 range in great weather. The Z06 times that Ranger and Jamie got were in near perfect weather and after 50+ passes of learning the car. My first time out (the 11.05 @ 129 bone stock run) I beat every known bone stock Z06 time except one, Jamie's. There was a bone stock Z06 with us at the track that day driven by a guy who is a more experienced driver than me. He ran a 11.429 @ 124.88 which was good for 7th on the C6Z06 fast list. I think that is a pretty good comparison of the ZR1 and Z06. We plan to have the car back out to the track in the fall or earlier if we can get good weather. We are pretty much stuck with doing private rentals since there is no cage in the car. Also fyi, this car dynoed at 550 rwhp (on a dynojet) and the worse I have seen is in the 530 rwhp range.

So, not only was the car heat soaked but it was being driven conservatively and STILL went 10.9's @ 130 in poor weather conditions (compared to the best and fastest C6Z times). Not bad! Thanks for clearing things up racerns

Gotta love everyone and their generalizations without knowing the facts.

I love how everyone compares the Z06 times, which in this thread the examples were accomplished nearly 2 years after the car was introduced. A few ZR1s will see the local MD dragstrips come fall, and the trap speeds will easily be in the 134-135 range. I don't care who you are, or what you drive, that's fast... stock or not.

so how much do you get from a tune on these Zr1s?
I seen the thread where they get a SHITLOAD out of the LSA in the ctsv
does this one respond well with it? and with exhaust?
