This is one lucky Russian pilot. If he would have caught a wire at that high of an angle he would have had one hard landing.

That looks like it would've been cool to see. Interesting how his first reaction wasn't to eject.

The pilot is lucky that he has close to 60,000lbs of thrust to get him out of trouble and a little luck.The SU-33 is basically the carrier version of the SU-27.

I wish they would post the deck camera vid from the flight deck I bet his tailhook was inches from the 2-3 wire

It looks like he suddenly dropped altitude right before landing and tried to pull out of it.
