did anyone else see that 911 call from the guy in the prius this week? they didnt even ask what kind of car, they said what kind of toyota? lol but they also told him to put it in neutral and he said "im trying to control the car" .....he was only doing 80mph. i think most inbreds could slap the car in neutral without fearing for their life at 80mph..

PUT THE F**R IN NEUTRAL YOU DUMBASS! I think a LOT of this is copy-cat because it CANNOT be proved or disproved that the throttle actually got 'stuck' in the first place! These ******** out to make a quick buck by suing someone are going to ruin a perfectly good auto company!

Hahaha i think everyone who knows ANYTHING about driving a vehicle properly has been saying this since day one. They are pretty much universal in the way they operate, there is no special AI that takes control and wants to kill you. 
Im ****** pisst at the chevy commercial. Or malibu is so safe blah blah blah.... Come on chevy put some excitment back into chevy their only 3 cars that scream buy me. But u got some dork who dont know **** trying to sell a ******* malibu. IMHO that aint no ****** malibu hell put a 327 rearwheel drive malibu out and better styling and sell it for around 23k. And the new camaro where are the baddass commercials for it? Remeber the ws6 commercial that was baddass, Got dammmit!
I think we gotta take a look at the technology involved here though... Im pretty sure most of the controls are fully electronic on these newer toyotas. Brakes, trans, gas pedal...its all computer controlled. Its reasonable to say, that if the computer had some major issue, it could keep the car from actually going into N. Or keep the brakes from working (tripping the ABS module). I dont know the toyotas, or their systems taht well...but thats what I gathered from looking into it. If your PC locks up, does your mouse work? How about your keyboard? Same thing. If the PCM locks up on a computer controlled car, you lose periphrials.
Anyway... aside from that. I can tell you what a big problem with this situation is. The dealers...and the owners. First...the dealers. My aunt just bought a toyota, and they never told her how to shut the car off while moving. Thats a big deal... Most of these folks have to be TOLD that in order to turn the car off while moving, you have to HOLD DOWN THE START BUTTON. Thats counter intuitive for lots of people. Anyone with any sense would probably try it...but then again Im losing faith that very many people actually have any sense these days.
That brings me to the owners. How many owners take the time to learn about their cars these days? They only time they crack open the owners manual is to find the ashtry, use the presets, or figure out how to replace their wiper blades. They get in, and mindlessly go on their way.
Keyless ignition is cool...but you cant beat a good old fashion key system that has been around since day 1...that WILL mechanically cut power to the cars system. Thats why Ill never buy a new car. I like my older, simple cars, that do what I want them to. Too much junk to go wrong that you need a PHD and a laptop to figure out and fix.
