Lets see a Gas Ford do this!
Anyway, my F150 seems to do quite a bit better than my previous Z71. Of course, these are mere 1/2 tons, not the 3/4 tons you speak of. However, I'm pretty sure I could have pulled that semi with my F150 in 4low, and I wouldn't have even yanked it. Hell, search Youtube and you can find video of an Avalanche pulling a tractor with trailer out of the snow.
Again, however, I'll tell you nice pull. Definitely took some grunt!
i used my stock Duramax to pull almost 80,000lbs. loaded side dump gravel trailer connected to a Freightshaker Century class that had a turbo failure. i only used 4hi, because i had to go 1/2 a mile to mu uncles shop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8Z_t...eature=channel
See cant break em.

Very nice find. Diesel power at its best, lol.
For the OP, take out the 6.0 and put in the 5.2. The 5.2 WILL pull it out. It all comes down to gearing.
We have a work truck that is pretty much the same as yours but with a auto.
anyways nice pull with the chevy.
