Let me see, I lived through men wearing shiny platform patent leather shoes, disco, custom vans (keep on truckin, ugh), everyone trying to paint their car to look like starsky and hutch's torino, Dukes of hazzard chargers, american graffiti yellow coupes (those werent so bad) and the whole CBradio/truck driver thing among others - fads come and go depending on whats playing at the movies or on TV and people who advertise can make money on.
The rice deal will fade away soon enough, I was hoping Janet Jackson would start a new trend and all women would start flashing their breasts for no apparent reason but it hasnt happened

I have my theory about "ricers"...
I blame it on Public Education System..and the media...
The media is obvious..folks have pointed that out...
The schools is the biggie.
Why?
Just look! The schools just plain suck.. They are so freakin' politically correct its not funny! You have FloridUH last year that was protesting the fact that their kids couldnt pass the FCAT tests (We are dumb..we know we are dumb...pass us anyway)...
They are not graded on what they DO but how much of an effort they put in basically. Its this OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION thats the problem.
Its not the actual RESULT is the PERCEIVED result.
Sure..They get a diploma..but they are dumb as rocks..can barely read etc..etc..
Oh..lil johnny got a 40% on his test... Oh..he 'tried'..Lets not embarass him, or credit those that actually STUDIED...lets bring DOWN the smart ones, and maniuplate the grading system so EVERYONE does 'good'..
This easily translates to their choice of cars.
It does have to BE fast..or perform..it only has to LOOK fast...
I'd wager that 80% of all ricers couldn't rattle off any amendments to the Constitution!! (except of course the 1st...such idiots use that all the time to force their stupidity..)

Dood, I agree with you 100% about our school systems here.
They pretty much suck the big one. Did you see the article
on CNN about the some school system wanting remove the
word "evolution" from their text books and replace it with
"biological change over time"? What a bunch of jerk-offs!
Of course, I got a 3.92 gpa and didn't even try

Ask him HIS gpa..
Then ask him, based on beliefs, if he would give a 'less fortunate' student 1.3 of his gpa...
If he says no...ask why.

I'd say its just too damn bad if someone can't pass in school. Yeah, give them a chance and try to teach them...but there is only so much you can do. Don't give a stupid kid a diploma, make them earn it...effort DOESN'T count for crap in this world. Its what you actually accomplish that sets you apart as being successful. I don't care if you have to hold a kid back 15yrs...they have to learn it if they want the diploma.

I think ricers are going to be around. Hot Rods (chopped cars), Muscle Cars, Harleys, crotch rockets are all still around. Some of us are just more enlightened than others. But, what can you expect from Micky Dees when they went and bought all the downer cows that had been condemned by the feds (how come if something is dangerous they still allow it to be sold, I feel safe).

funk master flex's chevelle IS NOT a LS6 numbers matching...i was told by guys over at chevelles.com its a plain jane 396 SS clone...flex is ok..but trys to hard to act like he knows what hes talking about...
