WTF happened? I can only watch this on my phone and the quality is horrible. Looks like the engine blew, but did the car slam to a halt?

Clearly his blinker fluid reservoir was punctured by debris on the track, causing the fire...everyone knows your drive-wheels lock up when you loose BF pressure.

</sarcasm>
That sucks =/ i hope the fire didn't cause too much damage.

A muffler bearing was on some car in the 80s also. Many of the newer mufflers have a flap that at low rpm they offer some backpressure and less noise but under full throtle they become a flow through. I would guess this is what the bearing is part of.

I'm guessing the motor blew/out oil and that caught fire and the slickness cause the spin out. Great recover on the camera cars part, thought the passenger was gonna try to grab the wheel from the driver for a sec... That'd get him punched in the dome in my neck of the woods.

This happened quite a while back. From what I remember the car threw a rod and GM replaced everything under warranty even though he was racing when it happened.

He had just come out of a high g right hander. This caused oil starvation; then he went full throttle in the straight & KABOOM!

Yes, go into the road racing section. There are several stock dry sump engine failures. Guys are going to 3 stage dry sump set ups so they can save their engines. Don't know what the issue is w/ the stock dry sump, but, there have been failures.

Most of us who run pre-oilers w/ drilled lifter cups are doing OK.

Holy crap, didn't know that.

Now I will always be thinking about that next time I am doing SCCA (especially since I have no warranty now).
