They are definitely worth something, just not $150,000 a piece. It's just like any other f-body, except with a bigger motor than stock. These days a 427 will put out to the wheels what this will at the crank. So if you aren't buying it for the power, why buy it at all?

Low mileage? There are low mileage less over-priced f-bodies out there.
Rarity? It's a 4th gen, not a 1st gen. It's still built like ****.

I could build a Camaro with a tall deck 500ci LSX in it for less, and that's 1 of 1. Would you like me to slap a sticker on it for you? I'll only charge $125,000.
You don't think the guys in the 70s thought the same thing when someone said that a ZL1 Camaro cost MORE than an L88 Corvette?

Those ZL1s and all COPO cars are worth a fortune today. Like it's been said, there are investment collector cars. Could you take it to the track sure - but then you would be wasting your investment.

I hope I am around in 20 years to see what the ZL1s and Dick Harrells are worth then. I would love to own one of the Dick Harrell cars

Were they worth a fortune 8 years after they were manufactured? If you consider the rate of inflation and scale it back to that time frame, would they have gone for $450K only 8 years after being produced?
If someone "invests" $450K for this car and they tucked it away for 40 years, do you really think there would be any profit margin when the time comes to sell it?

No kidding, maybe in 30 years they will be worth 450k total, but today they are not. So why would I buy something that is not worth 450k today, in hopes to sell it for 450k in 30 years? After storage, upkeep, and inflation, you would be losing HUGE amounts of money buying them now for 450k and then trying to sell them down the road for that much.

Just makes no sense to me, "buy them now for the low price of what they will actually be worth in another 20-30 years!". Hardly a selling point.

Still, beautiful and rare cars, but it sounds like the owner is trying to cash in his chips far too soon for the asking price shown.

I don't think I will ever have the self discipline to buy a car as an investment. If you can't take it out and have fun with it I just don't see the point.

There's 3 cars there

And I am not disagreeing entirely with the negative posts here, but there is definitely potential investment opportunity in these cars. Whether they have gone from $9x, xxx. to $150, 000 - probably not yet. But they are only worth what someone is willing to pay. Not having $450, 000 to invest myself makes my opinion useless anyway.

My bad I saw all 3 cars, typo on my part. Regardless all 3 will have to wait a good while to be worth 450k total as I said. They are only worth what collector's pay, it's a very fluid market, you are right, but looking at the market and seeing that we are in a recession with near 10% OFFICIAL unemployed....I sincerely doubt there are many buyers for something of this nature. Maybe Jay Leno?

Just a huge risk on a very dynamic "investment" which already seems outlandish even for today's market is all I'm saying.

But then again, I'm the guy scouring the market for a C4 ZR1, which is another car that will take a long time to appreciate.

So much for 'better.' lol

And i guess we'll have to wait a few decades to see who is right about the value...

Just because you won't pay an ***-load of money for something doesn't mean someone else won't.
I figured everyone would have learned that after the whole 'Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese' thing....$28k for some BS on a 10+year old - half a grilled cheese sandwich, with a bite taken out of it.

So i say these 'catfish' have a chance...it may not be a huge chance but the possibility is there.

im thinking about offering 500k because 450k just isnt enough and i would feel guilty paying that little for them

no matter the potential value i couldnt afford half of one of them right now
