Default Bought a Tripod...

So I got tired of taking a lot of pics and getting mostly blurry shots with this camera. It's a basic point/shoot Kodak Easyshare and figured a $20 tripod wouldn't hurt. This thing can extend to 52" and compact down to about 16".

Here's some shots from me just goofing around with the timing settings in the garage.

I'll slowly get better at these shots, wanted to do some outside stuff but light was really harsh today.

Yup, tripods FTW. One tip though - I noticed that the first few engine bay pics were a little blurry. Even with a tripod, there can be some movement when you push the shutter button to take the picture. The solution is to set a timer on the camera so that the tripod stops shaking by the time the camera takes the pic, or use a remote-shutter-trigger (which even then, you can still get movement). If there's a problem with blur even on a tripod, I use the timer function.

Also, learn how to properly use the Sharpen/Smart Sharpen filter in Photoshop. It helps a lot. You need to learn how to find that fine balance between sharp, and too-sharp.

Edit: I see you were using the timer settings... Maybe its the focusing of the first pic that throws it off?

Yeah, I was having to set the timer button every time I took a shot. I'll work on my photoshop stuff more as time goes on. Haven't used any of the sharpen functions yet. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll try and get some shots of the car away from the garage sometime, light has been just so bright lately, would like some partly cloudy skies to work with.

Well this is the nice side of the sound of a 3.8 that's HC and running longtubes.

It gets nasty over 3K rpms though, just like the rest

lol if you have 200 at the rear wheels i must have about 100...maybe. haha
And, very true about the 3k mark, sounds great at idle and that's about it without extensive work.
I hear with turbos they have more of a 'supra sound' to them, but if you're going to do all that you might as well do an LSX swap.
Although, i have heard a few v6s with the right mods and exhaust set up that sound great, but there's still the power issue - or lack their of.

Nice pics, they'll get better as you go. I started with a Kodak easy share my self. Steer clear of the flash and automatic modes. You'll get a lot better pictures using the manual modes and the various settings (example: portrait, sports, etc./whatever fits the application best.)

Good luck!

More from today, had to find a place without too much direct light and then it started getting even more windy. Sure would be nice if we had a cloudy day to deal with...

Had to kill off a few shots because the pylons for the overpass just got all up in the shot...

Yay cool hood brah! Not so cool peeling clearcoat brah

Imagine how nice pics you could obtain from a better tripod! I have a Slik AMT, and that thing is solid as a rock at a great competitive price.

There can still be minor blur from using a remote. A blog recently published results from a series of tests that somebody did in regards to the miniscule camera-shake-blur from pushing a remote shutter button when taking macro shots. Also, I'm not sure a Kodak Easyshare has the capability of having a remote attachment?
