I thought she had a nice bum too, but I'm a fan of big asses

OUCH...I guess it wasn't bad enough that she didn't want to marry him, but she felt the need to humiliate him on a national scale! I agree with 1genCamaro, she should have played along to let him save face and then denied him later...in private.
