Yea they had some stuff on the Discovery Wings about that, it was on the U2 but they showed the Z28s. Basically usually other pilots would drive out in them to help the pilot in the U2 land. The U2 pilot can't see down, so the car would radio out the altitude, and also inform the pilot if one of the wings was droping. U2 is a bitch to fly.
