Hey ur_sloww, I got your pic, and I'm working on it now. One question.
Do you have an example of the shade of purple you're looking for? Purple
is one of those colors that can vary GREATLY, and I want to make sure I'm
on the same page as you. Give me a link or something, because I don't
want this to look like crap.

OK, have some caveats with this one. The original image didn't
have much reflection, so it was kinda flat. Thus, the color change
only hightens that flatness to the color.
Second, there really isn't a way to give it that metallic coat with
such a flat color, so this is the best I can come up with. I'll be
honest, getting this to look good may be beyond what photoshop
can do, or at least beyond my abilities.

Thanks, If I get a better picture of the car where it is shiny could you make it a very dark purple metallic that looks almost black. If you can would I be able to take the picture to a paint supplier and get a custom mix to repaint the car? Thanks again.

You can get the color code from off a GM vehicle. They should be
able to use that to get the proper color, if that's where you going.
Here is that picture a little darker...if I go much more, you'll lose what
detail there is left.

Pendragonz, I sent you an e-mail before your last post. If you have time to do them that would be great, if not then thanks for the help. Trying to decide on a color to repaint her car and it is easier to do seeing it than to imagine it. Thanks again.

ur sloww, thats really hard to do on photoshop because to my knowledge photoshop doesn't have the reflect/refract properties that metallic purple paint has. im playing with it now and its driving me nuts! lol, in 3d studio max i could make a purple like that but then again thats a 3d program where it can/will render the reflections. photoshop cant do that. ill post an image of the best i got when im done.

pen, stoleit you guys are absolutely right, with that pic there is no way someone of any talent level could make that pic look like that color in photoshop. Like Pen said once you change the color of the vehicle you loose all the contrasting colors of the vehicle. ur sloww, i think pen has given you the closest thing to what is possible with your pic. This one was challenging, im not even going to post my go at the picture. good job guys!

Thanks everyone for your help. Stoleit can you make the color look like a dark purple that looks almost black. My wife is looking for something darker. What programs do you all use to do these changes and what do they run? Thanks again everyone for taking the time to do this. I tried myself with the picture programs that came on my computer but it was next to impossible.

Oh well. that is a little steep for a toy that I wouldn't use that often. Do you know of any novice programs that I could try without the high price tag? I think it would be fun to do what you guys do to pictures.

Sorry, slow typer. Stoleit, were you referring to paint shop pro when you said "paint"? If so, would I be able to make a decent looking sig with it? $800.00 for photoshop would be better spent on much needed mods on my stock car.
