If the above question is for me I had the open back. If you video with it out of the case there is still no sound. It is a software issue for sure!

I don't know how powerful it is as I haven't used it, but another forum member said in a previous post that this is the best free video editor for the GoPro vids: http://videopad-video-editor.en.softonic.com/

You get audio when you just play the raw movie files directly w/ VLC Player or something right? Otherwise you could have something wrong w/ your camera.

Sorry if I'm interpreting what you said wrong, but if you are saying you can't tape with the camera out of the case, you're wrong.
