mine was way worse then theirs. they only had to deal with one rusty spot i had 4. but as for being lied to by the junk yard yeah it seems to happen allot since the 4.8 and 5.3 block are both the same casting, once out of a truckj you cant tell from any exterior part which is which.

Do you have a lot of money into your transmission to put up with this type of abuse? I think as I understand it the 200s are a lot smaller and lighter than the big 'ole 4L80s, right?

What controller(s) are you using to run the engine and trans?

This is a super sweet build!

transmission dont have any electronics, its a TV cable style. i have around 2500-2800 in it its fully built, but yes they are very light and rob barely any power. motor is on stock ecu and hp tuners

Thanks, I appreciate the info!

I read up on the 200-4Rs a little, and they seem like a real interesting option. My only reservation is that if I can find the time to build my project this year it's going to be a mid to high three thousand pounds car. I'm wondering if the extra mass might make it a better idea to just deal with the extra weight of a 4L80e and make room for it.

Is it reasonably easy to fab up something that works well for the TV cable?

Thanks again!!!

it was straight forward. there are kits you can copy. the 2004r can handle your weight if you get the complete built version. mines one step down so is not running one billet shaft that the full version runs. i think its the out put shaft. call them they will know.
