Default Pictures from a trip to the Arctic Circle

Made a trip up to the Arctic Circle a few weeks ago. Have always wanted to go up there just to say I've been there, and I am leaving Alaska end of this month, so it was now or never.

All pictures were taken with a 6.3 mp Canon Digital Rebel.

Entering the Dalton Highway. This is the road that leads to the end of the road, Deadhorse, which is on the Arctic Ocean and is the beginning of the Alaska Pipeline.

Some pictures of the barren land on the way up.

Pipeline going underground

Bridge crossing the Yukon River (60 miles south of Arctic Circle)

Arctic Circle

Coldfoot, Alaska (60 miles north of the Arctic Circle)
My intentions were to turn around at the circle and drive back, but we didn't have enough gas to make it back to the nearest gas station, so we had to go an extra 60 miles past the circle just to get gas at $2.50/gal.

Sunset on the way back

Few pics on the way back to Anchorage from Fairbanks. The big Mt is Mt Mckinley

Wow nice pics. Strange seeing such barren stretches of highway. Makes me realize how much I love my local 7-11's, fast food resteraunts, and gas stations.

Awsome pics. I like how you had to drive 60 miles in the wrong direction to get gas...they should be charging at least $8.00 a gallon. Your M6 with 410's must have sucked in the snow Did you see any street racing

He said in an earlier post he drove his Cherokee . I asked him the same question, I hoped he wouldnt drive on ice in an 11 second camaro!
