2013 1SS vs 2011 GT 5.0
Me and my brother did a few runs the other day. My car is bone stock with 750 miles. I picked it up last week. My brother's car is stock as well.
Enjoy!

An M6 1SS is considerably lighter than the 2SS/Leather/Sunroof/Bodykit/21" rim/automatic cars that the magazines like to use for tests, also I have yet to see adequate tesing and comparisons with the '13 camaros with the new FE4 suspension vs the mustangs. All of these things considered, this doesn't really surprise me that much.

The SS is still heavier than the GT, but I know you can tip over the 4,000 mark with all the extra stuff on the camaro when you start throwing in sunroofs, body kits, halo headlights, premium stereo with subs, leather seats, automatic transmission, bigger wheels ect-all that stuff adds up a lot. But when you look at a 1SS/M6/No sunroof/standard wheels/cloth seat/ect ect car will weight more around 3,800 or so, maybe a tad less. When you compare a 1SS equipped like this to a GT, the SS has a slight horsepower advantage, and the GT has a slight weight advantage, so it's really a drivers race no matter who says what.
Keep in mind, the 4th gens can weigh 3600 or so pounds fully loaded and the 5th gens are much larger cars, IRS, true dual exhaust, ect so IMO it's actually quite impressive when they can weigh in only a couple hundred pounds more than a 4th gen when optioned right.
Also, the '12 cars have the new FE4 suspension, dirived from the upgrades on the ZL1, which include solid swaybars, new mounting points, and revamped dampeners front and back, which make for a noticeable improvement.

As for the weight, I weighed my buddys 2010 2SS/RS, full tank of gas and me in it and it weighed 4040. Thats w/ leather and all that crap, no subwoofer option, hard top.. with the 20's etc etc. I weighed 155-160 at the time..

Thanks for the comments guys...I mounted the camera facing forward because I honestly thought he was gonna pull me. I guess that goes to show you cant rely on internet hype when it comes to the 5.0
