Lol, you have no idea what you're talking about. Both motors are good performers IMO. And the Mustang has a 281 SOHC/DOHC, not a 289. I would love to have a DOHC with a bulletproof valvetrain, but the reason I don't drive a Mustang is due to the small size of their motors. 4 cam motors are definitely not a "waste"

still producing what? the mod motor is going to be in the next generation of mustangs as well. this time making 300hp. OHC engines provide higher revving abilities because of less valvetrain components. yes its still a v8 and yes it still cant rev very high but a properly setup LS1 vs a properly setup 4.6 mod motor is not even a comparison. if they are both NA then the LS1 will obviously make more hp because of size. but the 4.6 will be able to rev higher. and i would take a 4.6 revving to say 8500 over an LS1 that revs to 8500 because the 4.6 should make a more flat horsepower and torque curve vs how peaky the LS1 would be. of course i could be wrong on that after all im still 3/4 of the way asleep.

There was an article in one of the Car & Driver issues about SOHC/DOHC vs Pushrod engines. I don't remember the whole article, but it made the pushrod sound alot better than the OHV engines. I don't think your comparsion of a 4.6 DOHC vs LS1 is that acurate, a LS1 can blow away the 99-01 cobras, not to mention the Mach-1's that have the same DOHC engine. GTO vs Mach1 wasn't a good comparision either, the GTO is defentally needing some things to completment the LS1, hopefully next years improvements will do the GTO justice.
