Default [VR] 2009 Cadillac CTS-V 6MT - 1,216whp / 1,077wtq - Build/Dyno/Burnout Vids Inside!

We had a client visit Vengeance Racing earlier last year with a goal in mind. He drove up in a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V 6MT with a specific purpose. He wanted to make his daily driver with a baby seat in the back the most powerful 6MT CTS-V in the world. As you can probably imagine, we love lofty goals like this so we were ready for the project. Having had several modified cars in the past, the client really knew the procedure but this was his first time modifying in the LS world. He had seen several of our other CTS-V cars perform at the track and he was local. He was also looking to compete in many of the 1/2 mile events put on by wannaGOFAST the following year. After talking with him about options and what we could do with the car, he decided to take things in stages like many of our customers do. We put him on the schedule for one of our Stage IV CTS-V performance packages.

After the client dropped off the car, we knew it was going to be one of those weeks! While the car came in for one of our Stage IV packages, it actually left with a Stage V by the time it was all said and done. Since this was a manual car, we also had the chance to do a custom grind cam that would satisfy his request. He wanted it to "shake the Earth". Since we knew he would eventually be running nitrous in the car, we also sent off the ZL1 lid he had bought and sent it up to Nitrous Outlet to be direct ported before the build.

Modifications Installed:
  • ECS Heat Exchanger
  • KPE Intake
  • ZL1 Lid with AN fittings and nitrous bars installed by Nitrous Express
  • Alky Single Nossil Mth Kit
  • fuelinjectorconnection.com 850cc Bosch Injectors
  • WCCH CNC Stage 2 Heads
  • American Racing 2" Longtubes with Catless X-Pipe
  • VR Plug Wire Insulators
  • NGK TR6 Plugs
  • Metco 10 Bolt SC Hub
  • Metco 2.55" Upper Pulley
  • Meziere HX Pump
  • Vengeance Racing Custom Cam Shaft
  • VR Hardened Push Rods
  • VR Dual Spring Kit with Ti Retainers
  • Comp Trunion Kit
  • Melling Hi Volume Oil Pump
  • C5R Timing Chain
  • LS7 Timing Gear
  • Ls2 Dogbone Timing Damper
  • ARP Cam Bolts
  • LPE 18% Overdrive Pulley
  • ATI Damper
  • 102mm Nick Williams TB
  • Vengeance Racing Ported Snout
  • Vengeance Racing Ported Blower
  • DMH Electronic Cutouts
  • Misc Support Parts
  • ECU Tuning by Vengeance Racing

The result? The car put down 750whp/715wtq! This was up from 535whp on intake only which the car already had on it prior to the build.

Build Video and Burnout

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5ta9F1ej_I About a month into driving the car, the client came back to us and said he was ready to go full tilt. wannaGOFAST had added a Florida event for January and he wanted to be able to compete as the fastest 4 door sedan at the event. Adding to that, the stock clutch was obviously running into slipping issues given the new found torque. We scheduled him in for the first week of the new year to get the nitrous hooked up, add a standalone fuel system to feed the nitrous and install a triple carbon Street Slayer clutch from RPS to get the power to the ground efficiently.

Modifications Installed:
  • Nitrous Outlet ZL1 Lid with 200 shot jets, single stage.
  • Standalone Fuel System
  • Lingenfelter RPM Limiter Timing Retard Launch Controller LSA & LS9 Engines
  • NOS Progressive Controller
  • Nitrous Outlet CTS-V Switch Panel
  • RPS Triple Carbon Street Slayer Clutch
  • Mickey Thomson 305 ET Streets on the stock polished 19" wheels
  • Added jets used for 200 shot (57/28) as well as NGK 8 Non projected spark plugs

We got the car on the dyno and started going to work after he had a couple of days to drive around bedding in the new clutch. First pulls without the nitrous were throwing down 770whp/750wtq which meant the air was good and the clutch was doing work. We were ready to hit the nitrous. We started the jets off at 50% flow which would equate to a 100shot. Right off the bat the car put down a 985whp number and we knew we were going to be in for a surprise. The custom grind cam and other modifications to this PD blower setup was really eating up the nitrous and the C16 in the standalone tank. We hit the jets up to 100% and let her rip.

1,216whp / 1,077wtq!!!

http://youtu.be/dB9hXwlrh9g That is a 446whp/327wtq gain on a 200 shot! Not bad for a car that has the plate "NOPOWER"! It was official. This is now the most powerful blower 6MT CTS-V recorded and it is still on the stock shortblock. Needless to say, our client is excited to stretch the car's legs at the upcoming event in Ocala on January 24th. We'll check back in with results of the event and others but if you have any questions about this build or other CTS-V builds, don't hesitate to call the shop or send us an email.
