My friend has a dirt driveway, and we were doing tranny work one day in the rain. We stopped to have a beer, and the car damn near collapsed- would have probably killed whoever was under it. Turns out all the rain started to turn the dirt into mud, and jack stands somehow slipped and the car fell back down. Since then, we've been a lot more careful.

The jackstand also put a humungous dent in the floorboard.
I left the area, not wanting to be around if and when he got creamed.
My Camaro had enough clearance underneath to allow me to crawl under without the use of a jack. My brother came by and warned me that a tire could go flat with me underneath. That was a real eyeopener. Ever since, whether the car is on jacks or not, I place 2x8 boards under tires or undercarriage.
There is no way in hell that I would get anywhere near that car..
If my car isn't on a lift, or supported by jackstands on a level concrete surface.. I ain't getting under it..
just complete stupidity..
