Default Best Edit Program

I want to buy a program so I can sort through the last ten years of video and pictures and burn them to a DVD. I would like to keep it as simple as possible
yet I want a program that as I learn it, I will be able to do some good editing. What program are you using and how do you lke it.
Thanks
Alan

Generally you can't get a program that will edit video AND burn DVD's for ya. First off do you have a DVD-RW drive? If you do then you should already have software to burn DVD's. Now video editing, when you get down to it is not simple task. If you get the easy programs...they are easy because they don't do alot of things the more expensive ones do. Windows Movie Maker is a great program if you want to do simple things. Despite my hatred for Macs, iMovie is also a good program for simple things. Now if you wanna do something interesting and beyond the normal I suggest Adobe Premiere, Speed Razor, Avid, and/or Final Cut Pro. Now none, not one of these should be considered easy. You will have to sit down and read a manual.

Me personally - When I was at school I would use Speed Razor, and if I had the money I would still be using. But for $$ sake I use Adobe Premiere, which still works.

I have Sony Vegas Video...I picked up the package with the DVD authoring/burning software...I haven't fully learned the program yet, but so far I have been impressed with its abilities and ease of use. Although it is a very pricey package ($999 retail), it can be had for about $250 on an academic discount (if you're a student or know a student)

Vegas here too!!
Its what I used to do the North vs South vid..and others...
It rocks!
I've been using it for a while..and I'm still discovering new tricks with it...

I agree..you can get basic software with the purchase of a burner or digi cam..but they are typically good for only basic stuff...

And Vegas DOES "edit and create DVDs".. DVD Architect is and optionally bundled add on..

Good Luck!
