Default How to toast a clutch...

Well, I destroyed my clutch this evening. What was supposed to be a video of a good burnout, turned into a clutch smoking fest. Here is a before and after pic. These will do until Mike (boseman350) gets the video up. I've also included a nice pic of a trailer that was at this deserted shopping mall where we tried this out

Well.. think of it this way. If your clutch couldn't hold a burnout, on the street... with street tires.. it probaly wasn't going to last much longer anyway

What clutch/ hydraulic setup?

Well, here's the deal...

The clutch has been dying for weeks now. My tires *were* worse though. I figured i'd spend the tires then go for the clutch. My clutch wasn't doing too bad on the street, but at the track I couldn't even get one launch down... but now... well...

It took me a bit to figure it was the clutch. I didn't stop until I could tell it didn't smell like tires. But hey, it happens!

And BTW... it's the factory setup from 2000... with only 18K miles on it. Since I'm a bit hard up for cash, I'm going with a LS6 kit and some nitto's. Should last me a year.

Lots of smoke and no tires spining. That can't be good.

Yeah I have a video of someone else in an f-body doin something similar, i'll post it tonight its pretty funny.

IMO don't waste your time on the LS6. A Spec can be had for just a hundred more. I just yanked my LS6 clutch out this weekend. It was done at 30,000 miles and about 100 passes.

Actually the spec with a flywheel is $625. The LS6 setup is $350 and that comes with a flywheel. I'm not making the power to require a Spec, and I won't for at least a year. Like I said, I'll be happy if I get a year out of the LS6 setup. I'm just hard up for $ right now too.
