I don't think people have ever really bought Mustang GTs because they were excellent drag cars.
But it does make Ford's choice of keeping that live rear axle questionable (cough *cheaper to manufacture* cough).

I think that's just lame because it's got "300hp" and is a totally new car. You'd think they'd have done something a bit better
Oh well. Hopefully for them, the guy couldn't drive.

I disagree. Atleast Ford makes an affordable rear drive sports car. The have established they can make HP with their cars. They probably dont want or need to make it quicker. That can be for the Peeps that pony up for a Cobra.

If you look at it, Dtyson makes a ton of sense. Ford doesn't have any direct competition for its Mustang. It's top dog at the dealerships now. Camaro and Firebird are dead and almost no import is coming close to its performance for the money, although it does have to stay away from the NeonNeonNeon-4 lol. The G.T.O , WRX STI, Mitsu EVO, are all priced in the mid 30s around here, so comparing an affordable mustang to one of them is just crazy. Ford has never really put the late model mustang out with big doses of HP, but still continued to sell tons of them to every brett, philbert and tommy around. The Cobra takes up the rest of the slack, and from the tons of those running around here in my neck of the woods they have no problem selling those either.

What was the name of that track, Milan? Anyone know what the elevation is there?
Also, he ran a 14.2 @ 96, my old LT1 A4 (stock) ran a 14.4 @ 97. I bet that car driven right will be a high 13 second car. Seems respectable to me considering the Cobra is out there for folks that want the big powa!

Milan is at 600'. DA is usually 2000'. No big deal. That's my home track. My bone stock A4 LS1 went 13.67 @ 105mph so it's not the weather/altitude.

I dont know. I still think the Mustang GT should of had 350hp and go mid to low 13s.
I know the gto, sti, evo arent in DIRECT competition. But still. With the HP wars 300hp isnt just enough anymore.
ALSO... FORD! STOP MAKING YOUR CARS FATTER! Weight sucks!

Maybe you guys should consider all the factors before talking all that ****. You dont know the driver, it's a first year design that weighs 3450 with out a driver, it's a 9.8:1 281ci motor that makes 300/315 on an engine dyno. Yea, it may not be all that fast, but it's still a bad *** car.
