Damn, I was doing it backwards when I had my Mustang... heel on the brake, toe on the gas. It would be next to impossible with the pedal layout that it had though.

That's how I do my burnouts. Yeah, it does feel awkward.

Thats how I do mine too but for the double clutching I just do the ankle roll with my heal mostly on gas and left side of my right foot on the brake

Not at all! The gas pedal was not even with the brakes, or it would be really awkward but it was located further down. My foot was only slightly turned, I actually used the left part of my foot for the brake and right part/toe for the gas and kind of rolled them to either side. It wouldn't work for road racing, but it was fun on the street!

Dont they shift softer when they are road racing as to make sure the car last for the race. Not like in drag racing where is all or nothing. I guess it would also depend on how many laps are being run.

BadAndy,

That's funny. I shift like a roadracer. I don't shift like a drag racer (i.e.-smashing through synchros, breaking shift levers, powershifting, you know, all the things you can do when your race lasts only 12 seconds...).

With a completely stock gearbox, clutch and flywheel, you can't go crashing through the gears with your fingers crossed that the thing holds together the entire weekend. You will drop out of a lot of races.

There is more to motorsports than just dragracing...

Thanks! There's another video from our World Challenge GT Subaru STi. Yes, that's right, we're trying to race a Subaru 4 cylinder against Vipers, Corvettes, Porsches and those crazy Caddys.

Our first race was the Long Beach Grand Prix in April. The car was way underdeveloped, heavy (according to the rules), low on boost (according to the rules) and way undertired (according to the rules). We are working closely with the SCCA to get the car where it needs to be to compete against the V8 and V10 torque monsters.

Our next race is at Infineon at the end of June. We're expecting to be mixing it up with the mid-pack Vettes, Vipers and Porsches.

Anyway, here's the promo video from Long Beach. 40MB, so right click and save as. BTW, I'm the guy in the light blue shirt talking on camera. I'm also the very lucky guy to be sitting in the driver's seat!

Yeah that was some really good shifting. You dont have to bang the gears to go fast, everyone thinks you do. That was very smooth.

Gary, does your team have any engine machining performed here in NJ? Just wondering. Good luck this year, I personally love subaru's...
