It truly sucks when you are watching a cool vid with great motor sounds, then all of

Finger over mic usually doesn't help either. Especially on my camera because the sensor for focusing/light balance is placed right next to it, so if you do that you **** up the sound and the picture.

I have an XLR adapter that takes two inputs. Always thought it would be cool to wire one side to the engine bay and the other to the trunk (to pick up the exhaust sounds)

Yes, most camera's do have the wind/noise button or a setting that will buffer an abrupt sound to improve the audio/visual quality.
Sorry for being such an extreme critic, but my suggestions are mostly corrective criticism to help a person along. So far, your videos are AWESOME...with the exception of the wind noise. There are others that have videos of similar context.

well.......... i am lucky to get any racing video at all when kyle isn't with me. i just hand the camera to my pasenger and say do your best. with that in mind i am prety happy with the footage. the "wind noise reduction" is always set to on. not sure what it would sound like without it but that is 100mph wind there.

All the wind filter button does is insert a High pass filter in the signal, it will not get rid of thw woooshh by anymeans. You can tape some cotton like material over the mic and that'll help somewhat, or mount an external mic in the truck and connect it to the camera, that way you'd be able to put the camera wherever but still hear whats going on inside the truck.
Kid of expensive. but it might work if its mounted in the cab as long as the camera has a stereo connection http://www.shopcartusa.com/compare.a...id=130&src=smx

Kyle, you're using vegas video... next time I'm over I'll show you how to use the multiband limiter and you can kill the wind noise while still getting all the other good noises...
