Default Another night photo shoot......need advice...

Compare these two.....

ISO 100, no flash, F5.2 (Aperature) I had the shutter speed on three settings; 2, 1.6, 1.3. I had the camera in shutter priority.

Why am I not getting the resolution that others have? That sharp color, I see in a LOT of other photos.

Here's a couple more photos I was playing around with.

I know, I need a tri-pod. I set the camera on a CD book. An di deleted the blurry pictures from the bracketed group.
Sorry for posting so much lately, but I have a lot of questions. Thanx again.

I don't remember this of hand. But it looks like you might want to set a higher aperture, if you're camera can do it. Seems like the aperture you have is focusing on the road right in front of you instead of on the car.

I can tell becuase the road in front of you is crystal clear while your Camaro is slightly blurry. Also, set your white balance to something cooler, it seems to have a bit too much orange. Try to give it more of a "white light" look.

Just change your aperture and you should be fine and white balnce should make it even better. Having Adobe Photoshop helps a lot too.

One last thing, when I take pictures, when I am not sure on the aperture, I do each photo with low, mid, high aperture.

Also, are you using a tripod, that helps A LOT in night photos.

One last thing what camera are you using?

I've got a Lumix FZ20 5.0 MP w/ all the fixens. No I am not usiong a tri-pod. But I try to set it on something solid. What do you mean by a 'cooler' WB?? I have a couple different settings but I had it in 'auto' lastnight. I also like using bracket mode so I donot have to take the same picture more than once, so I can also have a variety of exposures to choose from when I get them on the computer. I'll have to mess w/ it again tonight, provided I can do w/out having a beer for that long...

I also FINALLY found a free hosting site!!

EDIT- Can I zoom in somewhat, do a manual focus and then zoom back out? The spot that I focused on should still be in, right? I would thin that would sharpen the subject.

@ pics 1 and 3. They are all very nice man. I LOVE 3!! I assume it was at night with a long shutter speed?

Yeah, I had the shutter speed set a little too fast for that third pic. I was not being really picky w/ it. That was my first try at it. The other two in that bracket were WAY too light, and they had tail light streaks in them.

OH! In pics one and two, notice the road junction number sign in the left center...
