I was at the shop when the car was being dynoed, It doesnt have that EVO sound. Kinda like a rotary/evo sound. I cant wait to see it run in person at the track again.

I wonder how long the engine can produce 800hp. It might be impressive on the dyno, but it will be even more impressive when it throws a rod. At the very least the rings/gaskets are getting raped.

Nice pull anyway.

its no more prone to raping rings and gaskets than an lsX or any other motor making big numbers, if anything the 4G63 is a more proven platform (older crankwalk prone versions need not apply)

+1 for seeing this beast on a track or street

This isnt a honda bud...... This car has been going very strong for a long time. Its also been road raced in one lap of america, 4G63 is ong of the best boosted motors to ever come out and its been the most proven ones. They take a beating. In the US 95-99 is the bad year for them, but any other year there bullet proof.

built engines are more reliable of course, but 800hp is more alien territory to some motors than others. That engine is more death prone than say a cobra motor or a lsx motor making that power at low boost.

Wow alot of ignorant posts about the 4G63. It has lived at those power levels and more for well over a decade. Shep has trapped mid 160's for two seasons on the stock block and crank with only teardowns to inspect. He ha snow gone faster but I think the block is filled about an inch or two. Rau has done about the same as has Buschur. Not to mention all the research that came from the Evo's in World Rally Cross.

Just becasue it is a smaller 4 cylinder doesnt mean it will only make a few nice dyno pulls and grenade.

i think what a lot of them are really saying is that u can only push something so far. at those kind of power levels with ANY motor u are playing with fire.

there was one post asking about longevity, not alot.

it's true that making big numbers motors are at risk, but 800hp is specially big for that motor, not so big for other motors. If shep, larry curly AND moe did better that still represents a small portion of big bugeted people. Big boost can still cause big detonation.

shep has been in every magazine we all know that capabilities. But even Supras put holes in blocks.

my friend has a 92 talon with a 4g63 puttin down 700whp for the last 3 years. hes gone through a couple head gaskets and lots of drivetrain parts, but the engine has been very reliable.
