Powershifting is when you don't let off of the gas when you shift. If you miss a shift, lets say you have to shift from 2-3, but you accidentally shift from 2-1, you could blow your motor from overrevving, or break your rear end(Not sure on the details on that)

The gearing acts to slow the car down rapidly, this is VERY hard in the rear end. In just regular driving, say you put the car in 1st doing 30 MPH and just let the clutch put with no throttle input, the rear end will practically start hopping off of the ground because of the tires trying to skip. It is like reverse wheel hop.

Those are both the same car that belongs to ThackerSS. The first video is ThackerSS, he's banned here. The second video is fade2blk500 he posts in the southern section alot. He's my brother He actually was powershifting if i recall correctly in the 2nd video. That car had some seriously fucked hydraulics tho, and is verry difficult to shift. The car ended up having to be taken off the street for a failed master and slave several times over the next week or two after that vid was posted. Craig drove the car to an 11.65 @ 117mph. It had an ls1 intake, 3500# raceweight, 12 bolt, 4.10 gears, lca's, phr, and an f14. It didn't have skinnies or nothing. Just some worn out et streets on stock salad shooters bolted to the back. No pulley.. nothing.. on a mail order tune, at that.. lol. Dynod 376rwhp.

Heres the kicker.. that car has the stock hurst shifter, with a shortened stick. It shifts like complete ***.

Oh.. and for those dissing. Craig was only 17 when he made that 2nd video. He ran my stock f-body to a 13.3 @ 105 when he was 15. He ran my f-body to a 12.0 @ 114.6 with nothing but an ls1 intake, and 224 cam and a mail order tune when he was 16. In 90 degree weather at the local fbody shootout. Car didn't have ls6 intake, pulley, ported t.b. or anything. 12 bolt w/ 4.10's also. It dyno'd 355rwhp and weighed over 3500#. Don't let that 2nd video fool you, he can shift even faster than that.

BTW: Alot of those fast mustangs have modified transmissions for quicker shifting. Same with some of the top dog ls1's.

Peace,
Josh

i apologize it was posted under my name but not by me. (this happens alot, but the person that does it usually doesnt sayanything dumb) I think he does a mighty fine job of shiftin no matter his age or equipment used..

Im trying to get a video up of me shifting cause i consider myself to be an "avg" shifter and i think that would be a good comparison

so it's basically just the rearend and gears wanting to slow down, but the movement of the car not letting it.

That's the same stang as before, just an outside view.

Clutchless 4, or 5 speed with an ignition cutoff.

And this guy shifted insanely fast

I was wondering if anyone had any more videos of interior videos of a M6 car. I just want to compare and see what everyone else shifts like.

Thanks.
OMG what exhaust does that guy have???????

since this went away from being a video post......

someone said it best earlier, powershifting does not really help ET wise, and if so, maybe a tenth at the most, this is ONLY if you can still bang gears quickly while still letting off the throttle. It is much easier on the car IMO. Either way, forward motion will be slowed for that amount of time in between shifts. The factor that is most important is how fast you can get out of one gear, and into the next and engaged the clutch. You can powershift all day, but if u r too slow and just overrev the car with the clutch disengaged, you are going to lose ET. I must say I have had great sucess with powershifting. I ran faster than any other bone stock LS1 locally, 13.8 @ 101. doesnt sound fast but with 6000' DAs it actually is pretty good. I missed my fair share of gears, but got lucky and never hurt anything. I have powershifted many cars, and like someone said, it is all a matter of getting comfortable with the car and the way it reacts. PLUS POWERSHIFTING IS FRIGGIN FUN!!!

Great vids guys.....I will search thru my computer's 4 GB worth of car vid, lol, and try to find some cool shifting Vids.
