it's an iron block, so technicially it isn't an ls1. if you consider any motor that started as a gen 3 truck block a ls1 then yes...
i don't call it a ls1 unless im talking to someone that doesn't know the differences...they call it a ls1 to spare themselves the need to explain things to everyone. i have no problem personally with them calling it that, but in all reality it is a generation 3 iron smallblock. it's like calling a new motor in a truck a ls1. they are using afr aluminum heads, but every gen 3 smallblock has aluminum heads.
ls1/6/2/7 are all aluminum block/heads....iron block = not a ls1
