Default 36'X24" Garage... big enough???

Do you think it will be big enough? Just finished the building, doing the wiring now, just in time for the snow. (Doors are on now too.) What do you guys think of my new garage?

Hey, thanks. Went with the tight 3 bay because originally I was considering a large 2 bay (either 28X28 or 24X32) but for the same price +/- the door I could go small 3 bay. I figured that would work best for my wifes GTP my Z and then a spare bay that I can work out of. The winterbeater does not deserve a roof over it. Another factor on not going bigger is the price of lumber, fn crazy how much prices have gone up. Anyhow, I just got back in from running some wire and the temperature here is 11 degrees. And no, I don't have heat....... the fingers are a little cold, not to mention how the properties of snaking, running and bending wire are hampered by the cold. Yeah, Spring is a long way off. Can't wait!

If you don't mind me asking, how much are materials for that size. I'm thinking of building something similar to add on to my 24x24 garage.

Lift? Hopefully in your garage! The materials (excluding slab, doors) were around $5-6K (just an estimate off the top of my head, have to actually sit down and add this up), depends how you spend your money. I went with 5/8" on the roof, T1-11 on the siding, 16" on center, and 2X6 on the trusses. Its probably actually more than that..... all those little things that add up that you don't plan on. I would say probably plan around $7 on materials, $2-3 on the slab (depending who your friends are), and I don't know on the doors, I hired them out. Hope this helps without too much confusion.

I appreciate the information. It sounds about right, I've got quotes for around $10-12,000 built.

I have some buddies with nice garages and lifts...everone says they wish they would have gone bigger. Room around the parked cars is key.

A couple have hot water heat in the slab...nice to lay on in the winter.

here is mine being built and my thread on my shop https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedia-exchange/391541-my-dream-garage.html

You have a nice first garage you need somewhere to park out of the weather. We have a garage at the house and this is the shop but Florida has good weather year around except for them hurricanes. Your garage looks good though do you plan on heating it.
