Um... Yeah... that was covered already.

I'm sure... I'm sure a couple have cracked them, too.

Undoubtedly, the 2JZ is one of the world's most prominent engines in the performance industry. Built super strong from the start and having gained many significant advantages by virtue of the years of refinement it's had since its debut, it's only natural it should be ahead of the LS1.

Turbo's are, for the most part, still largely ignored by MOST privately owned LS1's and all but a select few speed shops... The LS1 community is beginning to understand, however and due largely in part to lost appeal in running easy 10's and 9's, how to build high, turbo boost applications for the faster times...

There have been too many LSX owners that have been happy running centrifugal blowers and nitrous set-ups to the near 1k rwhp levels and running all kind of 9's... With little to no aftermarket support for turbo applications, it's a road many have not wanted to tread with mentalities such as, "LS1's don't need no stinking turbos," and other such kinds of closed-mindedness, leaving these kind of turbo set-ups to be accomplished by unique custom shop projects (Lingenfelter, etc.) with little appeal to most drivers.

This is changing with a growing number of turbo system manufacturers available for a wider range of budgets and an OVERWHELMING interest in turbo's over centrifugal superchargers (look at some polls in the FI section) as its cause for the LSX motors. LS1's are now beginning to iron out the "turbo bugs" little by little , I believe, and soon we will see many 1500 rwhp+ turbo LSX's as long as people like these http://video.ls1tech.com/video/7DDC9...08228A2B5F.htm , for example, continue their work and keep moving forward. Low 8's and 7's will be here in a couple of years.

Just to add a little more if you guys don't mind...

There have been MORE than a couple of M6 (MANUAL) LS1 F-body's (~3400 lbs. race weight) running 9.49's with 650-700 rwhp blower apps for some years...

Hmmm... What are all these ~1500 rwhp turbo LS1's gonna be running as we begin to see more of them, and their refinement, research, and experience continues to a level closer to those blower set-ups?

I wonder?

Not much faster, at least with any form of reliably, while using a stock GM six speed, 10 bolt rear end, or the factory axles...

Who uses a 10 bolt in the nines?

12-bolt rear is an almost immediate upgrade, and when your front tires are going to be in the air VERY often, a 9" rear is even better.

The 9 sec blower street LS1's are not running faster times NOT because their trannies are breaking... They're KINDA not running faster because they're maxing their set-ups' power... In the ~700 rwhp range... NOT ~1000 rwhp.

W2W's turbo LS1 (quickest LS1 in the world right now) does not have any reliability issues I'VE heard of.

Lingenfelter set-ups aren't known for their propensity to fall apart, either.

YES, the stock Supra rear is quite useful for many power levels.
