Photoshop is definetely one of those things you just need to get alot of hands on experience with. I had no idea what I was doing, and was scared to use it for the longest time.

This website really helped me out, and has a cool video section to follow along with.

Id say your doing REALLY good. I know Its taken me a LONG time to get decent at ps. How are you doing the black and white backgrounds with colord car? Are you lassowing the area around the car, and then eiting that area?

Polygonal Lasso around the entire car. Do "Select" -> "Inverse." Then do "Image" -> "Adjustments" -> "Desaturate."

I didn't see the non-blurred picture until just now. That would have helped me define the front of the car a little better.... I was way off on the tree.

Here's another, did the fade with Picasa. Try that program out as well, has some things you can do to pictures and it's free. Google search it, it's from Google after all.

The best way to learn photoshop by yourself is to practice practice practice. Go to those online tutorials that people have been posting up and just keep messing around. Your on the right track.

or if you were in the chicago area....I could hook you up with a class at www.ascendtraining.com. That's where I learned how to use photoshop, dreamweaver, flash...and so on.
