Well, in my opinion, you neeed something dynamic. So Tool comes to mind instantly, I have always thought Hooker with a ***** would make a great car vid sound track, but thats just me. If you want pure intensity go with Static-X. To tell the truth though, Symptom of the Universe by Black Sabbath is what I will use when I make vid of my car. No, I am not that old. lol
I always wanted to make an f-body vid to classical music, but it would have to be edited perfectly, and I don't have the time, or skill, to do it. I think it would give the vid an "epic" feel.
Sorry for the long read but I have been thinking about this as well.

Found this recently, its not ls1 related but still one of the better car vid compilations ive seen in a while. If you wanna get picky there is an fbod in there The song is Pedal to the Metal by Kazzer. Now I know its not as heavy as some of the rock that people are suggesting but maybe something lighter or more upbeat could work for you too.
Scenes are taken from the BMW mini-films with Clive Owen driving for those of you wondering.
I love all of the suggestions above btw, just seems everyone uses them in their vids.

You can always go with the greatest F-ing band in the world PanterA!!!
Anything from Far Beyond Driven or The Great Southern Trendkill would be nice.
Anything from Static-X's first album was nice. (Those guys rocked out hard live!!! I saw them in Dallas with Pantera and Slayer a few years back=baddest *** show EVER)
Also, I'm digging the new Nonpoint stuff. I crank up the Sirius when that **** comes on.
And finaly (probably haven't heard much from these guys because they aren't very mainstreem either) Spineshank. The first couple of albums from these guys rocked hard and would go great in a video
