I'm curious to see what they do with a few mods...around 700rwhp or so.

If you know what an 03/04 cobra does at 700rwhp, the GT500 will be a tick slower.

They will definitley need ported blower + N20 or alot of psi on the KB.

KB makes a 2.8L blower for it. That 5.4L motor will crank out a ton of power
with that big blower on it. 700rwhp should be a piece of cake.

My car is 500lbs lighter than a Shelby so the "tick slower" thing might
not necessarily be true...but I hear what you're saying.

2.8L = the win! When are you upgrading to the 2.8

Nice.

Without weight reduction and both cars being stock weight, hen the GT500 is a tick slower than your style car (if equal hp). You already know this though.

With the markup some of these dealers have on the car, a Z06 is comparably priced. Nice car, but a GT with a procharger will costs a lot less in every aspect and outperform it. The car should be running 11s bone stock but Ford fucked it up by gearing it down and making it a pig.

The 2.8L KB is the "race" blower supposedly. There's a new 2.6L KB out
that replaced the 2.2L blower. So far, there are zero dyno or track results
out for either of them. I'm sure they'll be great though. I've considered
upgrading to the 2.6. I'm waiting for some results first. I'm on the fence
though...turbo or blower. One is a cheap bolt on, the other is $$$.
The 2.8L KB will need to be spun way higher than I'll spin it...probably
26-30psi.

Turbos rock and the charge cooling will be better on the turbo (less heat soak problems compared to the blower). Plus they will flat out smash the blower from 4k-7krpm (which is the only rpm range you see when racing). The KB wil be fun on the street due to the monstrous low rpm tq, but sometimes a little lag is good.

We're talking $10K vs. $1K though. That's the difference between a 10.50 @
133mph and a 9.90 @ 143mph.

the only thing that was bugging me, people on that site going look out z06, after the things you do to get to the 500 to get it to keep up with a stock z06 you got a straight line car, and thats about all it will do decently after that, in the z06 you can go make that low 11 in the mid-high 120's and after that go tear up a road course if you want to. yeah the 500 is nice but its not even comparable to the abilities of the new z06

700rwhp on stock internals? I know the Terminators seem to have bad piston problems above 550rwhp, not sure on the new GT500's.

Those people talking about Z06s are delusional. Ranger is knocking on the door of 10s bare bones stock with drag radials and the only thing keeping him out is torque management, not power. The Z06s are trapping about 8 mph faster than this GT500 is with $4-5k in mods.

And a lot of these cars are gonna be garage queens left stock down to the filter by 50 year old men. There's one right next door to me...

yeah thats what i was saying, and even with the people that mod, at least with the z06 you have a car you can go tear up a road course and the street without a loss of drivability like you would get on the 500, it just doenst make sense to compare the 2 like some of the guys on that site are

No problems here what-so-ever with a 100% bone stock motor with over 600hp
to the wheels. A friend has a '91 Fox 'stang with a stock '03 Cobra motor
and a turbo kit. He was running 9.0's at 155mph in it...stock pistons, stock
bottom end period.

I heard that they kind of "slacked" on the internals of the GT500's, compared to the 03/04's....any truth to this?

Im not really tickled pink by the new Mustangs, but that GT500 has officially caught my attention. The new S/C Saleens aren't half bad either.

Ford never made the car to race. They made a cruiser with a nice amount of power.

Complete difference. If ford wanted a sports car for enthusiasts to mod and make fast, they would. They do not care though. Trust me.
