Take me down the 1320 in your M6
Hey all, I have driven manuals all my life but never drag raced one. I will be soon hitting the track with a M6, slicks, and nitrous. Just curious as to what a good run will look like.
If anyone has a in car video with nitrous slicks or both please post up a run
Thanks

Keep your foot on the floor untill you cross the traps.
You're going to break the rear end if you hook, so just pray it holds up. I launch mine at 5k and ride the clutch for about 10ft, and I'm only on nitto drags. Car looks like this....

That launch only netted me a 1.83 60', still my best ever!
It hooks great, just doesn't have the ***** on the bottom end to push it out hard (big cam, stock heads/short block). It's got a little more left in it on the launch, but the car was running like **** on the big end so we went home.

I usually drive around the water box, then back up untill my rears are in the water. I stick it in 1st gear, get them spun over a few times, pull out of the water, stop, put in in 2nd, rev to about 6k and dump it. This heats them up quick and the front tires don't leave a water trail for you to run over.
I am running 4.11 gears in my 12-bolt, so I'm not sure if you'd be able to burnout in 2nd as easy without them. It starts hooking up and bogging pretty soon after I start spinning them in 2nd.

Rear end, driveshaft, and clutch are your weakest links. Replace those 3 things and you can beat the **** out of the car at the track and not worry about things. My personal preferences are a 12-bolt with 4.56 gears, a Denny's Nitrous Ready driveshaft, and a RAM VDS/910 clutch.
If you have those 3 things covered, you can bolt on a pair of slicks, and launch off the rev limiter. That's what I did (until I got a 2-step). Talk about hella fun.

Yeah, I know I'm on borrowed time with the 10 bolt but what fun would it be to take out a perfectly good 10 bolt next month The over the winter mod list includes a 9" with 4.56 gears and a new driveshaft. Well, keep looking for videos for me I just like the idea of seeing some M6 guys torture their 10 bolts
On a lighter note, I was getting consistant 1.76 and 1.77 with an auto and street tires two years ago so it will at least hold a few easy runs
Thanks guys
Andy

The key to launching like that is tirespin and clutch slippage, you can't hook or it will bog or break. I slip dump the clutch really quickly from a high RPM. That 1.69 60' in the video was about a 6000 rpm launch. That clutch is still in the car, lol its a replacement LS6 clutch thats been in my car for like 3 years and 50+k miles.. don't let anyone tell you something can't be done. I was told I was going to break mine almost 4 years ago.
I've got an LS7 clutch going in with the heads/cam setup i'm going to do. I'll beat on that one for awhile.
