But do yourself a big favor and just run highflow cats instead of off-road pipes. There won't be that nasty rasp and the sound will be much deeper/cleaner.
BTW, I've heard this exhaust both ways and it really is that much better with cats vs without em'.

really? I heard the GMMG w/o cats and i thougth it sounded pretty good. I have some clips of me doin passes and from far away at high rpm's...the LM just sounded raw and untuned like it was just makin noise. I now have LT's and random cats so im hoping the GMMG will sound good from a distance as well as close up. Do you know where any clips are?
thanx for the help

Re: LT's, no cats, and GMMG exhaust?
Try the GMMG w/cats first and if it is not loud enough for you, go ahead and put the orp's in. But honestly...I think the GMMG sounds so much better(refined) through catalytics than through off-road pipes. And it is plenty loud enough for me that way. I actually have a fairly long sound clip of a guy with GMMG and no cats autoxing that I got off of LS1.com in the general help section. Just go there and do a search for soundclips of this exhaust and you should be able to find it(amongst others). They'll be from a few months back though.

Bounce, you'll be glad you went with RT cats instead of race pipes.

The sound in the videio clip is minimal rasp...it is really bad at 2200-2300 rpm. I am changing over to a dual setup w/ x-pipe dumping before the axle. Lane will be putting it together with a set of chambered mufflers from www.sweet-thunder.com
I also am installing Carsound cats in the stock locations with flanges that I allow me to remove them on race day.

Re: LT's, no cats, and GMMG exhaust?
I have the following set-up LT, Cats, and GMMG. In fact I have a video clip of it in my sig. To me I would never go back to having no cats with the GMMG, was too loud for my taste. I drove for several days with no cats and it sounded like a big dump truck with glass packs
