I don't know how that CO is on that boat but the two I was under would have had that pilots *** in a sling. even tho they are out to sea, that is WAY to dangerous, but way cool. just think if all of a sudden his bird hooked left, right or even down.......sucks. Both CO's strickly told the pilots of both S.S. flybys to stay off the deck!!! When a bird flys by u at mach 1+ u can feel the sonic boom, he was WAY close. that could have hurt someone, really it puts ALOT of pressure on ur body. I was a F-14 Plain Captain, I bet he came back BROKE!!! oh and chaffs, those thing HURT when it's a splinter. and hella messy if one goes off <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> . That has to be one hell of a insane pilot to do something like that, that close to the boat and small boy and that close to the deck. Re: Now this is fast... Yah.. that's a closure rate of over 700mph to the ships. One slip up, one malfunction and at the BEST... splash... and the worst, BOOM.. But from the way the guys were acting on deck, and the fact that the cam was out, i'm pretty sure it was an authorized flyby.

Re: Now this is fast... Thats an old video clip from a documentary called something like "Aircraft Carrier!". I saw it on Discovery a few years ago. The film crew was aboard the U.S.S. Carl Vinson, a Nimitz class Super Carrier. And Yes, the fly-by was authorized. They also had footage of an F-14 on fire and the pilot and rio punching out.
