do you remember what aperture setting you were using? Everytime I take pics I cant seem to get the blurred background like everyone else. If I remember correctly, you have to use a low setting like a 4-8 fstop to get that effect, right?

His shots were at f4, but depending on the lens your using, you might not get a nice blur.

Hard to get a nice background blur with a short focal length.

Pretty much and of course what you're shooting. If I'm shooting something small @ 200MM @ f/4 I'm gonna have more of a blurred background then say shooting a car @ 200MM @ f/4.

Exactly. The closer you are to the subject, the more blur you will have.

yeah I knew that much. I have a 85-300mm lens, dunno what the F/stop is on it offhand. Guess I'll have to start using that to get a nice blurred background.
