I've seen a few blown 5.0s (non Cobra motor) with the usual bolt-ons around here running deep 12s on only 9psi. Add a few more pounds and the GT40 optioned 5.0L and it should have walked all over a cam/bolt-on LS1. A "nice heads/cam" setup with 12 psi would be a 10 second car with a good driver.

i 100% disagree with you on this comment, maybe some afr's and a big turbo setup might be in the 10's at that boost level...s/c typically dont make the kind of power turbo setups will... just an example, that very same night i ran a 306ci trick flow heads/comp cam/ paxton S/C NB stang@10psi +bolt ons and i was on motor, i was dead even with him. I didnt post the vid because the owner of that car said he didnt want it posted. Are you saying his car should be in the 10's? HA!Not even close...I have at low 12 sec car on motor w/this shitty 10bolt.
On the gas, its decent but lost a bit, im still around 15-16 m/g...
on the tq question, at first yes, i felt a significant loss of tq down low, but once the car was tuned, i felt a gain of tq down low, quite the contrary. Power and tq throughout each gear at any rpm is WAY, WAY stronger now. Again im very pleased.

I live 5 minutes from Capital Raceway in Crofton, MD, and can locate on my drive to the track 3 10 second TF (untouched) headed 5.0Ls, and one GT-40P all under 15psi, and at stock raceweight.

Stock Corvettes run 10s here

Recently a stock C6Z06 went high 10s on nothing but drag radials here.

And 5 minutes over at Corral.net would uncover dozens of mild H/C 5.0L cars all under 15psi running what I claim. I've been to several Fun Ford events and am quite familiar with what these cars are capable of. I bet you'd get even more upset when I say 10s are possible on a nice H/C setup without the blower...

Finally, a Cobra 5.0L with the stock GT-40 parts, bolt-ons and a cam as you claim should make over 500HP (measured at engine) at 12psi without breaking a sweat.

On an MS4 install with the dual valve springs, can you still run the stock pushrods?

u can but its suicide, my question is why would you? You already have the car torn down, and pushrods are cheap, so why stick with the stockers? The ms4 cam is so agressive, you will end up fuc&ing something up and be down again, just order some good hardened ones and dont worry ever again marcZ28, i gotcha, i know where you are now and have seen the vid of that C6Z run 10's...your below sea level with absolute perfect track conditiond and weather. I believe what you are saying now. Good stuff. Lets just say here in jax fla at sea level and humidity in play, the cobra i ran runs 12.60's@110ish...my ta on motor is a low 12 sec car in the mid teens.

Dude, that was a 94 5.0 cobra with a blower, those cars would have a hard enough time keeping up with a stock LS1.

a local guy here has a 94 cobra, trick flow heads/cam on the stock bottom, he was running 9 psi on a d1sc procharger...on a mustang dyno it put down 429rwhp - he took it to the track and only managed a 12.4 @ 115 @ stock weight minus the backseat. we did a few pulls with my 110 trap camaro, and he would literally pull cars on me through the gear, but lose almost all of it shifting. he was sick when i went 12.25 with simple bolt-ons and a stall. that car was ******* fast up in 3rd/4th gear, when it could get a chance to pull...but shifting was not his forte.

perhaps the driver of the car in the vid has the same problem? also, the one in the vid was a vert...not much more weight, but a difference worth citing.

Around here, Superchargers with mild setups run low 11's in the quarter, trapping just about 116-120mph.

I have a buddy who had GT-40 Explorer heads on his car with a mild cam, Strim run 11.08@118mph.

He then put a set of AFR's and more aggressive cam, now running 10.70s at 131mph

The car is still a stock 302 block.

Might just put a turbo system on it. Definitely get some footage of you and the TRex!!! I'm starting to doubt my 10 bolt will hold anymore power than I have now, and may have to change it or do strengthen the one ive got for now. Need subframe connectors and all of that good stuff!!! May have to sell my liver or something LOL!!!
dude you could do the mods ur self, i didnt thin i could, but i did, just do the research, i used ls1howto, and its very good, i saved a ton of money too, money u can put towards a 90/90 setup or what not, its not hard, just very time cunsuming, and at times frustrating, but all in all a wonderfull experiance, plus when you tear a new a$$hole on the comp. it makes u feel that much better, trust me, ask around, im not the only one, good luck, race safe, later bro!!
