On a side note the new GT-R is no longer associated with the Skyline nameplate. It is no longer the top trim level of the Skyline range as it was in the past. In other words it's simply the Nissan GT-R, not the Skyline GT-R.

Just incase some of you care about it still. Here's some spy shots that some Z owners were able to snag out in Arizona the next day.

^ What a waste it would be running ANYTHING on the quarter mile.
Personally, because the last Skyline was significantly far from the new Z06 on the Nurburgring test lap times, I don't think it will be a dead-on rival yet... However, it will be damned close.
Looks? I still haven't decided... I'm still too used to the R34/R35 styling.

yeah they did clean it up a lot from the first few concepts that came out. I think its one of those cars that will be a lot better looking in real life rather than pictures.

Whoever fails to see the car's significance as the premier "GT" from the East is a tool... We have the Viper and the Corvette (which is doing awesome at Le Mans), and Europe has more than enough offerings, too many. For the East, however, this is all they have IMO and no other Japanese car can compete with it... That's cool to me.
Check out these Nurburgring lap times (all cars stock, but badass drivers of course):
7:42 – Ford GT
7:42.9 - Corvette Z06, Jan Magnusen
7:47 – Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
7:52 - Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren
7:59 --- 154.822 km/h -- Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R, Dirk Schoymans
8:07 - Ferrari 550 Maranello
The GTR is NO slouch... Has never been... The fact is that the new one will be better. By how much, we don't know yet... But if the previous and already damned respectable GTR's lap times are any indication, we will be getting a blazingly fast sports car out of Japan soon, probably the closest we've EVER had in recent C5 years to a Vette rival. It will most probably succeed unless Nissan ***** up somewhere. I can't wait, personally... Wouldn't mind owning one as an addition to my most prized possession (my TA, of course) for some autocrossing.
