I watched that race from the sidelines. I knew that Cobra didn't sound stock when I first heard it, but it wasn't that loud either. After watching it run, I was impressed - definately a quick car.

427Cya - was the yellow C6 Z06 a friend of yours as well? Looked like he was running some sticky tires in the rear, was he stock? I think he was running 11.8's or somewhere around there.

None of us knew the guy with the yellow C6 Z06. Nice guy though, he was running long tubes and drag radials. I think ihis best time was a 11.4 that day.

all the dyno #s in the world arent worth a **** when you combine a turbo and a manual.

but yea they're both bad *** regardless

i was able to hop in my friends TT 3000GT manual making north of 600awhp, and drive it just fine against a cobra. never driven a high hp turbo car in my life.

He told me before the race "start shifting when it hits 5 grand, cuz the turbo will smack the hell out of 7k before you know it"

that knowledge in tow i did fine. I understand theres a big diff in 1000 and 600, but i still dont buy that story. he shouldnt have built it that way if he doesnt know how to drive it.

Yeah sometimes a 1000 hp turboed manual driver is harder to put together than the car.

I know for a fact that there is no way in hell I would get decent times in a 1000 hp 5-speed Cobra or even good times in my Z06 if I was pushing 700 hp.

You sure about that? I watch my friend click off 6.90's all the time.
...and I'm talking 1/4 mile. Plenty of guys are running 9.50's with a stock
T56 and a turbo kit.

Plenty of guys but not all of them, he was talking bad drivers. Lots of those everywhere you go, manuals and turbos are a lot harder to use compared to stalled autos with big cubes.

Bad turbo drivers - I think they originated from Japan, something like JDM spec or something like that...

They're the ones who's boost gauges come with a free list of excuses.

Wolverine's (aka Wil) put down ~1000rwhp and traps 152ishrwhp. So 137 traps indicates he is making a lot less.

My buddy has a full weighted Rousch with a built 2v turbo (600-625rwhp) and traps 116 in the 1/8. So that would be around 135ish in the 1/4. So I think that cobra was in the neighborhood of 625-725. Still both badass cars. -Mark

regardless, a stalled auto will always run faster than a manual with a turbo.

how can you build boost on a launch and keep boost on shifts with a manual?

That and the times are like a million times more consistent and you never have to worry about going from 3rd to 2nd on a bad day.

I can clarify on the turbo cobra...

38XX lbs. DVD player w/ LCD screen. 10" Subwoofer. 6 Point Roll cage. 17" wheels all around. A/C. Power steering. T56. Stock IRS (IRS Brace ).

On 24psi of boost made 900 rwhp. Stock bottom end.

10.089 @ 14X is the best so far. That pass happened today with the car cutting out throughout the track because of clutch slippage.

Any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them.

^Those questions are actually really easy.^

Ask him a toughy!!!!

Why do we care if a Cobra is on the street with 900 hp?

Why because we want to know WHICH Cobra is on the street with 900hp so we can avoid 'em.
