IMO, the only years the mustang was superior to the camaro was 87-93 and 03/04. Thats it. The bullshit excuse for a performance car mustang GT and 99/01 cobra are the shitstain on the underside of fords underwear. Hell, nothing that ford produces today short of a GT500 will outrun a STOCK LSx car ....

Reject I hope you arent talking about the modern charger. And they stopped making the GTO as well so that cant be the cars competion

Yeah I would say the mustang's have had their times and are much better now (Termi's, MACH 1's, GT500, hell even the 3v) but they outsold the camaro's with their 6 cylinder sales I would think. From 93-02 F-body's definitely ran the muscle car scene, and are still doing just fine against the competition. The mustang is approachable to almost anybody, F-bodys are a different feel and attitude.
Plus Ford has always for the most part only had to market one sports car, the Mustang. Whereas GM had the corvette, T/A, Camaro and the f-bodies got hardly any marketing. There was a time when I knew what a Mustang was but didnt know what an "F-body" was. Regardless the camaro is coming back, the GTO's are still really new and there is the Z06 ripping up the streets.
Oh and the new challenger looks pretty sick, but the chargers are a bastard child muscle car... that new mini viper looks pretty mean though.

i remember in 94 when ford outdid themselves by having a ford probe run right with the stang gt

people didnt believe me when i said my probe went 14.9s with a cold air intake and no cat and a straight through muffler.
