Damn justin you do some good work
I am slowly learning photoshop. But my mom is a training consultant and is going to hook me up with a 3 day photoshop class for free. So hopefully I will be able to start turning out some modded pics soon and helping ya out with some peoples requests

I did not desaturate that one. Just made a mask of the paint in multiply , set a white color overlay to 'linear burn', and then adjusted the levels curve at 3 points, added some green and a little blue, added contrast. Depending on the color you may need to make a few layers with different properties to get it looking right.

I have a quick version of this, but the I have no time for a detailed attempt.
All it would take is time though, as it takes time for all the intricate
flame pattern.

Yeah its hard to get a smooth edge with a small jpeg. It would really take a lot of time to get it 100% looking good.

For the short amount of time, I'm happy with what I came up with.
I really like how the silver came out! Just had to play around
with multiple layers and stuff, like you said.
