I've seen a lot of them fail to hit that mark... and the autos are way, way worse, of course.

I'd like to hope a stalled auto could beat a stalled 6 speed seeing the 6 speed wouldn't run. lol

Traction permitting a 6 speed should still 60' better, and will surely trap higher.

Seriously stock for stock the auto just eats up too much power in both cars.

a bolt on stalled auto car will have about 10hp less then a bolton non stalled car and about 20hp less then a manual with bolt ons but is able to beat both in the quarter mile... a stalled ls1 should drop 4 to 6thenths off its quarter time...

my point is hp isnt everything and auto's can stand up against manuals.. there are many benifits to having a stalled auto as compared to manual..

dont get me wrong im not tryin to say auto's are always better in racing, just in some cases

I disagree and I'm sure many others will agree/disagree with me, but if that's what you think by all means continue. Sure chances are a stalled auto will run more consistent times, but in the end a well driven 6speed car with those mods will be faster. Better or equal 60 foot times matched with higher traps will be had with the manual.

Weird, I have the stock convertor and 4l60-crap-E with 2:73 rear gears running 13.50 at 105 MPH using only 1 shift and the top of 2nd gear through the traps....I wonder what the stick shift crowd is using to run 13's.....

That is all, carry on...

Show me two exact cars with the same mods, one a M6 and the other a stalled A4 and I bet anything the A4 will 60' WAY better.

Back on topic, a friend here in town has a 99 GT vert 5-spd and he gets burned by hondas all the time. It's actually kinda sad.

pretty slow, stang, kinda sad. But anyway, i know what u mean, in a perfect world with the perfect driver, yes a manual SHOULD be faster, but thats almost always NEVER the case, thier is a reason why most pros if not all choose a solid auto with a nasty stall, takes alot of the guess work out of it and the car does a better job of doing the same thing u are trying to achieve with the manual! Just my .2!

What about all the Pro Stock guys and their Liberty 5 speeds?
Some of the fastest guys on 10.5W's (Billy Glidden, Dan Millen, etc)
also run Liberty manual transmissions. They pull 1.1x 60's and run anywhere
from 6.80's - 6.90's @ 200-215mph.

Pro Stock guys are extremely consistant too. The entire field of cars
is usually within a few tenths of each other.

I agree with you for the most part though. A stalled 'glide is a very tough
competitor.
