New MTI X1 Cam installed(pics and vid)
MTI X1 (230/227 .592/.571 112 LSA), PRC Dual valve springs, Titanium retainers, new valve seals and seats, hardened push rods. Install took about 9 hours by myself w/just a Sears tool set(along w/a tim's tool and a compression tester.) Don't know if anybody saw my thread in the enginetech section, but I ended up breaking off the old bolt in the crank when trying to remove the bolt after installing the crank pulley. Link to thread= http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=189965 ... Ended up tapping the smooth part of the crank snout and putting in a bigger 3/4x16" bolt in w/oversized washer and lock washer. Soo, those of you looking to do a cam install yourself, don't listen to ls1howto.com or the write up floating around here. I've done plenty of cam swaps doing the bolt method, but w/TTY bolts, it's not the smartest and you end up getting what happend to me as a end result. Anyways on to the pics and vid. Let me just say this car feels insanely different. 6600 comes pretty damn quick. The reverse split, in my opinion is the best to go w/if running stock heads and intake, and have a good flowing exhaust.
tip: use 5/16" brake line and slightly pound it in the shape of a D to hold the lifters up.
Inside the cam hole..lol
