Fast car for sure. Can't wait to see the new ZR-1 start romping on the new Vipers, though. It's gonna be great to hear the Viper guys bitch about it and start with the excuses, what-ifs, etc, etc, etc.

Obviously if you're talking modified cars, like the one in that video, then that's a whole different ballgame. But stock for stock, I doubt the ZR-1 will have much to worry about, besides maybe a shitty driver behind the wheel.

which of course there will be. i dont remember though, did the ZR-1 still offer a normal six speed or did they go to paddle shifters like alot of the exoctics have done because of complaints that the engine revs too fast?
remember reading an article about lambo or ferrari that they went to paddle shifting mainly because customers had trouble shifting quick enough when getting on it from first-third gear....doesnt make sense to me when those engines redline in the 7's and up.

I would be unpleasantly shocked if they went to a paddle shifter in this car. Maybe the reason Lambo and Ferrari customers complained about that was because they were rich tools that wanted the most expensive thing out there, didn't care what it was, and didn't know how to drive.

11.8 on street tires, huh....I got his ***...11.41 on street tires and I'm running full exhaust. lol. The ZR1 is gonna be a mid to low 10's car right out of the box, what with the new "launch sensitive suspension", perfect for drag racing.I expect that a really good driver may dip it into 10.2's and maybe 9's with DRs.Vipers....BFD.

yeah i was wondering the same thing. and you may have a point about those exoctic owners just wanting the most expensive of everything.
but 3350, that does seem a little heavy, especially with all the carbon fiber thats going onto the car.
but then again, when compared with a challenger, camaro and GT500, it does weigh considerably less.

But since any new Viper threads will eventually begin a bench racing discussion pitting it against the ZR-1, here's a great article.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...r1_first_look/

And I guess that's where the 3350 and 620 estimates came from, haha. But they are still estimates. Hopefully GM will step it up in the last year or so before we start seeing them.

Or even better, hopefully they will be extremely underrated like the LS1s!

The ZR-1 will rape the new viper pretty bad stock for stock. You can say what you want, but deep down you know the truth.

read the article, its motor trends guess the car will weigh in at 3350. heavy for a vette, but with over 100 horses per liter, this is going to be a monster.
if anyone has ever seen the katech ls7 camaro, imagine what they could do with this car. wonder if lingenfelter will come up with something to make the ZR-1 even better?

Haven't seen you in a while v-seriestech, where's the kill videos?

Seriously...modding a FI car is too easy. I wonder what the limit will be horsepower wise for the ls3/ls9 before **** breaks.

Hi Killemall -

I would submit for your consideration that there have been people run 10.8's in the "lowly" LS7 powered Standard Z06, on street tires.

I don't think too many people are going to be worried about meeting up with any Hennessey iron on the street.

I would think that this Viper had more in it and that the driver did not get a very good launch, with such a great trap speed.

Too bad vipers don't come with a seasoned old Corvette drag race driver....

best regards-

mqqn

I saw 3350lbs as well in the GM Press release on digitalcorvettes.com. I wondered about it too, but I guess we'll just have to see.

I think he was referring to the E.T. not the trap speed. Ricers brag about trap speed, racers brag about E.T.

the new nissan GT-R is claimed to be a corvette killer. with 450hp and AWD, but with a weight disadvantage, i hardly see this thing being any competition for the new viper and ZR-1.

Being FI the new ZR1 could get more easy power with your basic pulley/intake/exhaust. ZR1 owners won't have to worry about vipers very much at all...

What people are forgetting here is thats a hennessey viper is not an out of the box car from mopar. It was improved by hennessey its like taking the new z06 and taking it to callaway or Lingenfelter to improve it.In that case take the new ZR1 and add a smaller pulley, full exhaust, intake, and tune and I bet it will rape the hell out of that viper
