When equipped with an automatic transmission, a solid rear axle, and a properly setup suspension. Your average street driven IRS 6 speed lacks severely in the ET department - BECAUSE the power is everywhere -although the traps aren't too bad. That car in the video however, looks like it's done right

You're right, but I believe he is also. He said "your average street
driven...."

IMO, he has a valid point.

He said "Your average street driven IRS 6 speed lacks severely in the ET department" so I am thinking he is referring to the track only guys unless you know where we can get ET on the street...

Yes there are those supra owners that now own cobras and run 12's with 600+rwhp but those are few. Or not as many as supras.

I'm talking about the most common type of Cobra driver. The one who puts everything into the motor (or rather on the motor), and ignores the rest of the car. They're typically street driven and occasionally run at the track. You'll see them with the stock 6 speed and IRS with a set of drag radials. The car makes big power, ETs poorly for the power, but runs a decent trap speed. There are 3 such modded Cobras where I work. All have decent drivers, but ET like a bolt-on LS1, and trap like a H/C LS1

Marc I really have to disagree with you, 03/04's are not that hard to drive, even with a soft launch they can ET great because they have such a strong power band.

With a CAI and a Catback (no pullies) my 04 went 12.43@112.5

They are not at all like supras who make there power over 1500 rpms or so, which can be a handful to get the most out of.

I've never owned a Cobra, so I can only speak from what I've seen at the local tracks. I've witnessed COUNTLESS pullied and minor bolt-on Cobras running only bottom 12s, with a few breaking into the 11s. Most of the upper/lower pulley and full bolt-on cars were in the mid 11s, and the only cars that went faster were either ported or aftermarket blower cars - or extremely light. 450rwhp and low 12s does not impress, nor does 520rwhp and mid 11s. Most of the Cobras I've seen trap well. However the trap shows at least .5-.7 ET improvement possibility. I've NEVER seen a Cobra with 380rwhp run 11.3-11.4 at 3700lb raceweight - I did it many times at only 118-119MPH. The Cobras that ran those traps usually made 450-460rwhp, and only trapped high 11s at best. Many of these cars had MACA stickers.

Trapped high 11's?

Ok...who cares? This thread isn't about your experience with "average street
driven" Cobras. It's about one that is extremely nasty. Don't turn
this into another one of your 'I hate Cobra' threads.

No comments on one that is an 8 second car?

Marc drive one and you will have a new opinion. When my car made 492rwhp and 464 rwtq (low torque because it was a very mild bolt on car with modest boost 13.8#'s) The only NA LS1 that gave it any kind of run was a friend of mines RX7 LS1 swap car that had long tubes, T rex cam, 4:11's and weighted 2780# it made for a hell of a race but usually I would start to pull them up top. No ls1 F-body or Vette ever gave it a run.
