Default Evilways' Sat. Dragstrip adventures caught on video!

Well..no new best times, but consistant 11.4 -11.5s all damn day. Last gasp on this world for the run flats as they provided a best of 1.8X 60fts, but started slipping about 30-40 ft past the tree. Enjoy the vids!

It hooked good at the tree, but the track was not as well prepped past about 30ft out and my tires are down past the wear bars now. Last time at the same track, they prepped all the way to the 1/8th mile mark due to some "heavy hitters" being there earlier in the day and my car loved it. I lost about .1 and 1-2 MPH today with the track conditions and tires the way they are.

So let me get this straight. You did a nice big burnout with factory steel belted run flats? Why? Its not a DR. Heating them up will only make the tire greasy.

oh hell...this BS again.....look, it works for me...without the burnouts, the runflats get a best of 2.0-2.2 60fts or worse. If it works, why give me crap about it, it doesn't take any rubber off your tires. The greasy thing may happen to some radial tires, but I have only experienced it with the GY GS-D3s I had on my 2K TA years ago. With the runflats, they need a little heat to hook better.

I'm of the same mindset, but ****...I give the man credit for cracking
off some mid 11's on street tires. That's not easy to do.

'cause I'm a hard headed *******, thats why...lol. I want the tire companies to make a decent stock size 19'inch drag radial for the Vette. Hell, the Charger has a 20incher availible from Nitto, WTF? It's too much bs to try and work around the TPS as well, making sure the car is close to the sensors, if you swap out the tires for 17/18inch wheels w. drs, then not being able to turn the car off after you leave the old wheels behind without getting a code for no sensor being read and then the car limits you to 55MPH. It's alot of crap. Anyways, I'd love to see what'd it do with something stickier than marble surfaced runflats.

holy crap....Elizabeth.. this is the big one ....I'm coming to see ya ,honey....with a compliment from unit213 on the forum!!

(sorry, couldn't resist,lol....thanks for the compliment, man! )

Just an observation, from watching these vids and having been in the car during the runs, the tires hooked great at the light, and for about the first 20-30ft, but as the rpms rose in 1st gear, the tires spun (i.e. accelerated faster than the car was going) until the car hit 2nd gear. You can really hear it in one or two of the vids. From what I saw yesterday, they didn't prep the track as throughly as in the past. The last time I ran, they prepped all the way to the 1/8 mile mark(they had some killer fast cars there that day/night though), yesterday they prepped basically just within feet of the tree.I feel like it cost me a little on the back half of the 60ft, but overall, my 60ft times were consistanly 1.8Xs compared to 1.9's and 2.0s in previous track days.

Where did you get your info on the car not going past 55? My car has TPS as well and sometimes they act up, but the only thing that changes is the damn dash light flashing at me.

And if that really is the case, just get 2 new sensors and put em on whatever wheels you get.

Having been at the rock yesterday, it didn't appear that your car has any kind of stall to it. Maybe you're just bogging out of the hole and spinning once you get on up in the rpms where the car makes its power.

What's the break down of your whole run?

If I remove the stock tires, the computer gives warning that no TPS is located, shows XX for psi . You can clear it once, maybe twice, but then the car chimes 3 times and "service TP system" appears in DIC. Car then goes into limp or safety mode and speed is limited and you cannot turn off TC/AH or go into comp mode or paddle shift. Each year and transmission option of the C6 handles the no tps thing differently. The 06-07 Z06s simply have a code appear and you can hit reset and all is good for 40-50 miles or several startups. I'm not bogging out of the hole at all, in fact , the car hooked well and pulled great until about the 30-40 ft mark where the track wasn't prepped as well and the tires spun until the 1-2 shift. I'm sure your TPS is different, as in most GM products, in the way it handles the no sensor located issue. I'd do new sensor in smaller wheels w/ drs, but would also need to purchase the "sensor exciter" tool (sorry, don't know the exact name). I've settled for waiting on 19drs or just stick to street tires.

Here's a side by side of my quickest pass from yesterday and from Nov when I feel the track was prepped a bit better:

NOV RUN ///// FEB RUN
1.868 ///// 1.867
4.987 ///// 5.011
7.480 ///// 7.519
98.64 ///// 97.97
9.622 ///// 9.677
11.411 ///// 11.482
123.84 ///// 124.49

I lost about .05 tenths and .7MPH by the 1/8th. I lost approx. .07 tenths and .6 MPH in the 1/4.Take into account, as well, it was about 25 degrees warmer yesterday.

I really want to try the new track when they're done with it. The "drawings" I've seen of it look top of the line everything. It's about 40 mins longer for me to get there than to the Rock, much longer if I85 is a mess. I really would like Piedmont to make the track 1/4 mile rather than 1/8th. I had heard some rumblings about it a year or so ago, but no news on their site at last check.

With 1.8's on the factory radials, I'd say whatever he's doing is working.

I used to get the same **** for doing a burnout with my radials when my 97 was a bolt-on and spray car. It ran 7.90's with a flowmaster and a compucar 100 shot and 60ed in the 1.60 range. Everyone always asked why I did such a big burnout on radials. Because the car wouldn't hook if I didn't thats why. BTW what kind of stall do you have and what happened to your TA. Me and joncr96z recognized you from back in the day at piedmont. Nice times.
