Rotory engines are a big deal in Puerto Rico. They have some of the fastest RX-7's in the world over there. Some of the best rotary tuners are based out of PR.

This puerto rican guy I used to work with showed me some pictures of the drag racing scene in Puerto Rico, bad *** ****.
They know rotaries there.

If you have any rotary cars at your drag strip you will know that the people we not cheering at the fact the car went 7.0's, its that it made it down the track with out breaking. Its a rare sight to see them not dump some kind of fluid all over the track and keep going.
