96-02 SHould be a cakewalk for a good running LT1. 03+ they start getting faster. Should win nonetheless

Huh? 99-04 are all the 260 2 valves and its basically a drivers race w/ a LT1.

I LOL at some of the comments in these threads. If you started the same thread in a Mustang forum, you would get the exact opposite response. "My 2valve has never failed against an LT1!"

The cars are pretty close when stock, I have seen it go both ways. 2 buddys of mine with 99 GT's could really say they never lost to an LT1. I saw them race quite a few and never lose, they had just a couple of mods and their cars were decently quick. When modded, the LT1 should be quicker because it responds better to bolt ons.

The 99-04 4.6 (281) GT's are quick because of their torque, not their horsepower. They are an advertised 260hp/300ish tq, at the flywheel.

Stock for stock it a drivers race like a few have said. Mod for mod the LT1 responds better.

The 99-04's are the same 2V motor. The 96-98 2V mustangs are the turds your thinking about. They switched, heads, cams and intakes in 99.
